Hey!

I’m Emma

Your Sleep-Obsessed Mum Friend Who Knew There Had to Be Another Way. And yes, I tried all the things so you don’t have to.

You deserve better.

I believe feeding our babies has become a quiet crisis — because the world is built in ways that make it almost impossible to succeed.
In many cases, support for breastfeeding remains an afterthought, a whispered recommendation rather than a foundational pillar of care.

As a midwife, I’ve always danced that impossible line: encouraging mothers to breastfeed without pushing too hard. Without tipping into guilt, without that sting of shame.

I used to fear making mothers feel guilty.
Now I know — most mothers who come to me want to breastfeed. They want to feed their babies from their bodies.
And when they can’t, it’s not because they chose to stop — it’s because we let them down.

They stop not because they’ve failed, but because the systems have failed them.

From the very moment of birth, conflicting advice, stretched care, pressure to perform, and a deep cultural forgetting begin nudging mother and baby down a path many never asked to walk.

The support wasn’t there. The knowledge wasn’t there. The space, the time, the listening, the care. It all added up.

The last time the UK did a national infant feeding survey? 2010. That’s how much value is placed on one of the most powerful health interventions we have.

It showed us this:
🔸 81% of UK mums started breastfeeding at birth
🔸 By 6 weeks, only 55% were still doing so
🔸 And of those, fewer than a quarter were exclusively breastfeeding
By 6 months? Only 1% were exclusively breastfeeding.
And heartbreakingly, 80–90% of mothers say they stopped before they wished to.

That’s not a reflection of mothers.
That’s a reflection of systems.
A deep absence of support. A loss of the village. So many parents trying to do so much on their own.

This tells me one thing clearly:
Mothers and babies are not broken. The support is.

I believe that in the vast majority of cases, your body is beautifully designed to feed your baby.
I believe most babies know how to receive what you offer.
And I believe every parent deserves informed, compassionate support — not judgment, pressure, or conflicting advice.

So how do we keep going in a world that isn’t designed for us to succeed?
We find support that sees us.
We take back the narrative.
We feed our babies the way we want to, for as long as we want to.
And we get the right help, when it matters most.

Because feeding your baby should feel like home — not a battleground.

I want you to thrive in your feeding journey, not just survive it.
And I’m here for that.

If this is bringing up any uncomfortable feelings for you, please know this is never a judgment on anybody’s feeding choices.
I’m here to support your unique goals — whatever they look like.

Book an Antenatal Feeding Consultation — your future self will thank you.
